Kaitlyn requested that this particular page be the photo of the day. Why?

Well...while going through some boxes at mom's, I found a recipe book that my 2nd grade class put together. Kaitlyn found it very interesting that everyone had written their favorite recipes and that is even had a recipe from me.

I got teary while looking through it and she asked me why...

Shortly after Zachary was born, this man (Joel Clayton) who I went to school with and was what seemed like the same class for years died. He had acute asthma and had an asthma attack while working at his farm during the day. He immediately went into a coma and never came out. Thomas and I visited him and his family several times during to pray for him. What makes me most sad, is that he left his childhood sweetheart behind. She was a grade behind us and they had started dating when we were Juniors. She was pregnant with their first child around the same time I was pregnant with Zachary. In fact, I bumped into Joel at the hospital during one of my routine visits. It was a sad occasion for him, though. She had just been induced to give birth to the baby stillborn. It had died in utero. So very sad to have that happend, then to tragically lose your husband a little over a year later.

So sad.

I told Kaitlyn how he died when she asked...she teared up and told me I had to take a picture of it and tell the story here.

So I did.

For her.

For him.

Apparently this squirrel hasn't seen 'Super Size Me'...or maybe it has? I was actually 2 1/2 feet from this squirrel and he/it didn't even flinch. Just cocked his eyes at me and kept on chewing. Crazy!

My chives that came back from last year bloomed. Love the contrast of colors.

Zachary's poor little webkinz...left on the sofa...to be found by Olivia. He came home to an eyeless, noseless little black bear. He promptly rescued him and scolded Olivia...putting Smokey on top of the candles on the kitchen table. He's been there for a week now, so since he's taken up residence there, I figured he deserved to be a picture of the day today!

I've decided to limit the flowers this year and actually plant items that will either come back next year or are usable this year. As in herbs. As in enough herbs to make it through my cooking summer season/fall. I LOVED using them so much last year, that I was very excited to make certain I had enough this year.

I love my flowers, and will miss them...and might get a few here and there, but for this year, it's all about the herbs.

Kaitlyn's Earth Day project that she made from the 5 recylable items she brought to school. This was all her idea and OH so cute. She's gonna be a creative one! Makes me proud!

Supplies used:
  • 100 Calories snack box that was originally broken down and then recreated into the 'house' form
  • Diet Cherry Coke can for 'roof'
  • 1 junk mail for the 'awning'
  • 1 envelope torn in half for the door
  • 1 tab for the handle

HOW creative was that! Love that she named it Elizabeth's Cafe, too!

Working on another ATC Spinner for 7Gypsies...this ones for QVC. Spent the day working on this between getting blood drawn in Hendersonville, coming back to head straight to the gym, then back to plant herbs in newly created 'herb' bed, tons of laundry, and more dusting.

Spent the last hour outside just enjoying the weather. Sitting on patio. Letting Olivia sniff everywhere. Snapped a few shots of some herbs I've already planted and now are already thriving in the early Spring weather of sunshine and enough rain.

Some fall plants that have bloomed out and filled in...should last until heat comes along.

2nd grade field trip to WSMV Channel 4, our local NBC station...who knew they were owned by Meredith Corporation who also owns Better Homes and Gardens. The only reason I know that, is because that 'logo' for the company is the same logo on checks received from BHG Scrapbooks, Etc. magazine checks.

Stuck in traffic this morning on I-65 for FOREVER...

Brandon had Dr. appointment this morning @ 8:30 in Rivergate. That gave me enough time to get him there and get back to the house by 10:00ish to quickly eat my mid-morning snack and then get to my trainer's appt. at 11:00.

OR SO I THOUGHT...

Got to the gym in just enough after sitting in traffic, then getting home later than anticipated, scarfing down protein shake, throwing gym clothes on, rushing to gym, and getting there with only 10 minutes to spare (just enough time to warm up and stretch)...only to have the trainer look at me strangely and say...did something happen?

BECAUSE:

My training time was supposed to be at 10:00!!!

I forgot? How could I forget? We've met at 10:00 for 2 weeks now EVERY Tuesday and Thursday...HOW?

Oh, well....there was an opening at 12:00...so back to the gym at noon now.

How embarrassing!

One year repairs on our home (I can't BELIEVE it's already been a year - although blue-taping the walls and seeing bumps and scrapes on the baseboards made it a bit more real this morning) are today. To keep me occupied, I'm hoping to keep up with the laundry and finish this book.

One of my most favorite things to do for church as a child was fill up the coin collection sleeves for Sheaves for Christ and/or Missions. Our church passed out Missions "Change" the World sleeves yesterday, and truly...it made me a bit giddy. Stupid, I know...but I couldn't wait to fill it up!

A trace of blue sky amidst the cold, windy baseball day. Loved when the sun was out, but not so much when it went away bringing the cold winds with it's disappearance.

Created some custom wedding invitation samples to show to someone today. And guess what...it's pouring down rain and I have to walk a bit before getting under the pavilion at the location where we're meeting. That should be fun!

And...presenting...MY breakfast of champions. Who wants to join me today for 2 slices of wheat toast (with fat free butter...less than 1tsp for both that DID NOT soak into bread...what's that saying about the butter?), mixed berries, and 1 whole egg + 2 egg whites. YUMMM. Hmmm....am I lying? Perhaps? I did finish half of it, though...does that count?

Thomas' alarm went off this morning for his Mon/Wed/Fri exercise. However, he didn't go..."no" was on his phone...so he came back to bed. So...I couldn't go back to sleep. Finally at 6:30 I decided to get up and cook the Lemon Poppyseed Scones that I bought at World Market.

Breakfast was served!

Something new I've started...got a lot to be accountable for, so this just keeps it all in one place. And...it's good for me to see efforts recorded.

My perenial herbs are coming back in in full force. The chives are blooming. The oregano is popping back up. The thyme is greening out again. Mint is sprouting through the dirt. Love it! My favorite part about this time of year is getting the garden going. LOVE me a good herb garden!

Meme bought Kaitlyn 2 Webkinz and she's in love. Slept with them Saturday night and brought them down for breakfast Sunday morning. Meet Miley (the hippo) and Dumbo (the elephant).

We bought Olivia 'almost real people food' dog biscuit treats at World Market today. She grabbed it and immediately went to her hiding place underneath the living room ottoman. Quickly devoured it into little crumbs and then licked up all the crums. I'd say she liked it!

This is the ONE thing that Thomas lets go around the house. The one thing that I can say is his mess. One.

Dry Cleaning Laundry Tags - everywhere. Wherever he takes them off is where he'll drop them. Kitchen counter, misc. table, closet floor, bathroom rug, hallway floor, laundry floor. This morning he just handed it to me and said take a picture of this for your picture of the day. Since this is something bugs you.

Yep. He's got that right.

1st day with trainer. 141 average heart rate. In the zone for me to be at maximum fat burning. This count didn't include the 35 minutes of cardio prior to the training session. I'm toast...to say the least.

My mother and I enjoyed a birthday lunch in honor of her 69th birthday today at Merriman's Tea Room in Ashland City. It was wonderful. I'm so thankful to be able to have time to take and celebrate my mother on this day.

Unfortunately for Kaitlyn, she's been blessed with her mommy's math gene. It's not a good one. I didn't learn any tricks of the trade for math. Math is a subject you have to concentrate on. I don't do concentration. At all. Sewing. No. Painting. No. They make my tummy turn over...seriously. Anxious on the inside and I just never could focus. When I was in high school and HAD to learn to focus, I did...but I just always and consistently struggled with math. I made good grades...but it was just not easy for me.

So...Kaitlyn has struggled this year. I see so much of myself in her sometimes that it's scary. Thomas decided to try ONE MORE TIME to teach her a few tricks. She got it. Totally got it. One days test she missed 34 out of 50. After learning the trick, she got 50/50 in way less than the 2 minutes time.

That's another thing...if you would have TIMED my math, I would have CROAKED!

And, yes...math is still a problem. Don't believe me...come play chicken foot with me and count how many times I beg someone else to count my points. Especially the later the evening goes...concentration just FLIES away!
